My Comfort Books

I am the worlds biggest book nerd. I am apart of a bunch of romantasy book groups on FB, Insta, and Tumblr. I love reading fan theories, looking at fan art, and you should see my etsy cart because it is full of bookish merch! I will reread books over and over again and never get sick of them. When I got in trouble as a child, I wasn’t grounded from friends, I was grounded from books. I got my books taken away during class because I couldn’t listen to lessons and would hide my book in my lap so I could read. I don’t care what description the author gives about FMC, I always picture myself. I am the weirdo who references books, sends bookish insta posts to people, and feels like the characters are my friends. These books are my absolute favorites and I have read them ALL (every book in the series) at least 3 times.

A Court of Thorns and Roses Series

I know, I know, I know. Everyone is in love with these books and they rave about them incessantly. But, it’s because they are THAT GOOD. I can’t tell you how many times I have read this series (currently rereading ACOWAR, and it will never get old). If you haven’t read them because you’re scared to be disappointed or worried people overhype them (I’m looking at you Cruel Prince), don’t be. They are worth all of the hype! My husband likes to call this series “Faerie Porn” because yes, it is a bit spicy, but it also has a really great plot so it doesn’t feel like your just reading smut. It’s also written by the Goddess herself, Sarah J. Maas. Who has other amazing series like Throne of Glass and Crescent City that are also AMAZING. I would recommend anything she writes! I so want to go in more detail but I’m trying to make this post spoiler free!

From Blood and Ash

I read this book for the first time after I was on a hangover from the ACOTAR series, and my girl Jennifer L. Armentrout did not disappoint. Book hangovers are a real thing, and I needed something to make me feel alive again. This book did just that. This is some of her best work! The world building is… muahhh *chef’s kiss*. The way she weaves her stories is nothing short of pure art. If you are in a reading slump pick this book up. If you haven’t read in years, this book will get you started. You will never want to put it down.

I also wish I would have kept a journal of all my hypothesis, questions, and reactions to this book, but that’s also because I am a weird book nerd, who keeps books, their characters, worlds, and story lines, close to heart.

A Shadow in the Ember

I will say this book is my top go to comfort series. I’m in a reading slump? I read ASITE. I’m sad? I read ASITE. I haven’t read ASITE in awhile? I read ASITE. But you cannot start this book if you have not read From Blood and Ash (FBAA). These two series are meant to be read together.

These characters have me in a chokehold. I think that this series is possibly even better than ACOTAR, and that is a hill I am willing to die on. It exists within the same universe as FBAA, and on the authors website there is a guide on how you should tandem read the two series.

Now I don’t want to spoil anything, but this series is VERY similar to FBAA, push through. It’s supposed to feel that way. History is repeating itself. It will all make sense in the end!

Crescent City Series

Another amazing series from the Queen Sarah J. Maas. I will not lie, this one took me awhile to get into. The world building is so detailed and so intricate that it’s hard to understand at the beginning (at least for me it was). I’ve read it three times now, and I still get confused, but I’m in love with it. Now you should probably read ACOTAR before you read this because there is a cross over in Crescent City 3, that you won’t understand if you don’t read the ACOTAR series first. The world building for this series is very modern. There are phones, and cars, and techy gadgets. Just mix in a bunch of fairytale, immortal creatures and BOOM, that’s it!

Zodiac Academy

I feel like this book could go one of two ways, you love the story line so much that you pass over all the cringey writing, and forced humor, or you absolutely hate it.

I like it. I find the story line intriguing, and there are love stories that I totally ship. That being said, there is a lot of cringey writing, sometimes it feels like the authors tried too hard. It’s definitely not everyones cup of tea. That being said, I feel like you know what type of books you like and if you can’t handle a bit of cringe every now and then, maybe don’t read it. If you don’t care and just need something to read, do it!

Now, someone please go read these books if you haven’t already so we can talk about them! And if you have read them, LET’S TALK ABOUT THEM! send me a DM on insta so we can talk about ALL the things! In the meantime, I’ll go back to reading ACOWAR, brb!
